Now THIS is amazing news for gamers.

To celebrate the ten-year anniversary of Alien: Isolation, creative director Al Hope hopped on Twitter, in a post that can be seen here, to thank players for their boundless enthusiasm and confirmed that a sequel to the hit game has entered early development.

Alien: Isolation was released on October 7, 2014 and became available for the following platforms: PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Windows, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Linux, OS X, Nintendo Switch, Android and iOS.

The official synopsis of the game reads “Discover the true meaning of fear in Alien: Isolation, a survival horror set in an atmosphere of constant dread and mortal danger. Fifteen years after the events of Alien, Ellen Ripley’s daughter Amanda enters a desperate battle for survival, on a mission to unravel the truth behind her mother’s disappearance. As Amanda, you will navigate through an increasingly volatile world as you find yourself confronted on all sides by a panicked, desperate population and an unpredictable, ruthless Alien. Underpowered and underprepared, you must scavenge resources, improvise solutions, and use your wits, not just to succeed in your mission but simply to stay alive.“

The game received several year-end awards, including PC Gamer’s Game of the Year 2014.
