Jacob Elordi Talks ‘Frankenstein’ Transformation

by Rob Caprilozzi

By now, most of you have seen Guillermo del Toro’s epic take on Frankenstein as it was released in select theaters on October 17th, and then on Netflix on November 7th.

Recently Jacob Elordi, who played the creature in the film, sat down with Tudum to talk about the role.

“I’ll remember this [experience] forever,” said Elordi. “It completely reignited my passion for movies … I have a whole different energy toward making films now,”

Elordi endured hours of prosthetic application—creature designer Mike Hill and his team crafted 42 individual pieces for his transformation—along with fake dentures and a large brown contact lens to fully embody the character del Toro has admired since childhood.

“From the moment I got into the makeup trailer [the performance] began, and it was alive,” Elordi says. “Guillermo said this would be not just a meditation, but a metamorphosis.”

The official logline of the feature reads “A brilliant but egotistical scientist brings a creature to life in a monstrous experiment that ultimately leads to the undoing of both the creator and his tragic creation.”

Directed by Guillermo del Toro, Frankenstein stars Oscar Isaac, Jacob Elordi, Mia Goth, Christoph Waltz, Charles Dance, Felix Kammerer, David Bradley, Lars Mikkelsen, and Christian Convery.

The film is now streaming on Netflix. Stay tuned to Horror News Network for more on Frankenstein.
