“My name is Robert Hawkins. It’s 6:42 AM on Saturday, May 23rd. Approximately seven hours ago, some… thing attacked the city.”
Cloverfield fans just might be getting the direct sequel they’ve always wanted. In a new interview during the SXSW premiere of his latest film Hallow Road, Babak Anvari teased the new sequel.
“So sad that I cannot because everyone on that team is very secretive, which I understand,” Anvari told Countdown City Geeks. “But whatever happens, just know that hopefully you’re going to get something amazing.”
Directed by Matt Reeves, Cloverfield starred Lizzy Caplan, Jessica Lucas, T. J. Miller, Michael Stahl-David, Mike Vogel and Odette Yustman. The film was released on January 18, 2008, and earned $172.4 million at the box office against a budget of $30 million.
The marketing for the film was simply a sight to behold. The first teaser trailer for Cloverfield, which was released without a title attached, played before the Transformers film.
