Just when it looked as if the Scream franchise was down and out, Ghostface snatched victory from the jaws of defeat.
With the loss of Melissa Barerra who was let go after she posted support for Palestinian liberation and condemned Israel’s violence in Gaza following the October 7 Hamas attack in Israeli towns, and the loss of Jenna Ortega to other filming commitments, the Scream franchise was in a complete tailspin. Everyone on the planet knew that there was only one person that could right the ship, and last we heard, they weren’t too happy with the offer they received to reprise their role.
Well, today all things are better in the Scream world as Neve Campbell took to Instagram to let the world know that she will return as Sidney Prescott for the next film in the Scream franchise. Have a look below at her official announcement.

In addition to that big news, we have learned that Kevin Williamson will direct the feature with the team at Radio Silence serving as executive producers. Williamson wrote the original Scream as well as Scream 2 and Scream 4.
