The film–inspired by a true story–is directed by Lee Daniels (Precious) from a screenplay he wrote with David Coggeshall, Elijah Bynum and Thomas Westfall.
In The Deliverance, single mother Ebony Jackson moves her mom and children into a new house and, before long, strange occurrences take place and child protective services suspects Jackson of child abuse.
But, when these happenings turn out to be demonic, Jackson not only has to battle the system, but she finds herself “in a spiritual battle against a demon for her faith, her life and for the souls of her children.”
The cast includes Andra Day, Glenn Close, Mo’Nique, Anthony B. Jenkins, Demi Singleton, Tasha Smith, Omar Epps and Caleb McLaughlin.
