Beware the cuddly creatures.
Five Nights at Freddy’s–based on the popular video game–has quickly become the highest-grossing horror pic of the year, and now heads to digital platforms, 4K UHD, Blu-ray and DVD with bonus features.
The digital release is slated for Nov. 28, and the film will land on 4K UHD, Blu-ray and DVD Dec. 12 from Universal Pictures Home Entertainment.
The bonus features include: From Game to Big Screen (see how the filmmakers recreated the game’s world with immersive environments and surprises); Killer Animatronics (watch Freddy, Bonnie, Chica and Foxy transform from cute and cuddly to creepy and killer through costumed performers and cutting-edge puppetry); and Five Nights in Three Dimensions (discover how the film took a two-dimensional game and made it a three-dimensional nightmare).
The film–directed by Emma Tammi from a screenplay she wrote with game creator Scott Cawthon and Seth Cuddeback–follows Mike Schmidt (Josh Hutcherson), a night security guard at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza, as he discovers he has a big problem with the building’s animatronic animals that come to life when the sun goes down.
