Melissa Barrera Reportedly Has Been Dropped From ‘Scream 7’

by Thomas Tuna

This may have horror fans screaming.

Melissa Barrera–who reportedly was set to reprise her Sam Carpenter role in the next Scream installment–will not be part of the horror pic, according to a report on Deadline.

This casting change, according to reports, is due to the actor’s recent social media posts that have been perceived by some as anti-Semitic. About a month ago, Barrera posted, “I, too, come from a colonized country. Palestine will be free.” This was followed by an italicized quote: “They tried to bury us, they didn’t know we were seeds.”

In response to this news, Christopher Landon (Happy Death Day)–who reportedly will direct Scream 7–posted on social media: “This is my statement: Everything sucks. Stop yelling, This was not my decision to make.”

Due to the recent actors’ and writers’ strikes, no other news on casting choices or screenwriters have been announced, but with everybody now back at work, those announcements should be forthcoming.
