Emerald Fennell, the director behind the Oscar-nominated film Promising Young Woman, is set to write the big screen adaptation of Zatanna, according to a report on Variety. J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot is producing the films which is slated to be released through Warner Bros.’ DC Films.
Created by Gardner Fox and Murphy Anderson, Zatanna first appeared in the November 1964 issue of Hawkman #4. The character is a mainstay in the DC Universe and has even been a member of the Justice League of America, Sentinels of Magic, and the horror group, Justice League Dark.
Although this would make the first big screen appearance of Zatanna, the character has appeared in a slew of television and video games. Some of those appearances include Batman: The Animated Series, Smallville, Justice League Dark: Apokolips War, and Injustice: Gods Among Us.
